AI, or artificial intelligence, is a broad term that refers to systems capable of intelligent behavior such as learning, planning and problem solving. AI can be used to automate complex tasks, making human labor more efficient and effective.

An example of AI is using machine learning techniques to analyze large amounts of data to gain insights that would otherwise have gone unnoticed. This can be used, for example, in the medical sector to predict diseases and personalize treatments based on individual patient data.

Another example of AI is the use of natural language processing (NLP) to understand and use human language in communication with humans. This can be used in assistive applications, such as digital assistants on smartphones, to help users plan their day or answer questions.

In general, the applications of AI offer the ability to perform tasks with high precision and speed, which can lead to improvements in productivity and efficiency in various industries.

One of the applications that is currently consuming the entire Internet is ChatGPT.

ChatGPT

What I’ve noticed is that since the beginning of December my social media timelines have been filling up with posts about ChatGPT. I was already familiar with DALL-E. But with the release of ChatGPT, the internet has pretty much exploded. I don’t know if that’s a good thing. In addition to the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI), AI also has a dark side. More about that later in this article.

What is ChatGPT?

People who know me know that I am lazy. So I asked ChatGPT the question.

ChatGPT’s answer

‘ChatGPT is a language model trained by OpenAI to communicate in a human way. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as answering questions, conducting conversations, and generating text. For example, you can use ChatGPT to create a chatbot that you can use for customer service, to help solve problems, or just to have fun conversations. It is up to you to determine how best to use ChatGPT!’

This opens doors to a range of possibilities.

About My Work

Say my manager wants to know what I did last week, and it just happens I didn’t do anything at all. Can I use ChatGPT for that?

Number 7 looks good. I will continue with that one.

Anyway, knowing my manager, he’ll want to see some code too.

You could also write a complete novel.

To really understand what you can do with ChatGPT, I recommend you try it for yourself at: https://chat.openai.com/chat.

The Dark Side of AI
In addition to all the great possibilities and benefits of AI, it also has a dark side.

I have also submitted this to ChatGPT. This is what ChatGPT came up with.

Three Laws of Robotics

When reading the second paragraph of the article, Isaac Asimov’s “Three Laws of Robotics” come to mind:

First Law

A robot may not injure a human being or allow a human being to be injured by inaction.

Second Law

A robot must obey orders given to it by humans, unless those orders conflict with the First Law.

Third Law

A robot must protect its own existence, insofar as that protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

The Image

Of course I also need an image with the article. I have asked ChatGPT to provide some ideas for this.

I entered the prompt number 2 in Dall-E and picked one.

Finally

In a weird way, you might think of this as an assistant who:

  • is a naive, smart person
  • dreams
  • has unique and flawed views
  • is willing to bluff to answer

If you’ve ever dealt with such a person, you know there are random bits of wisdom and bullshit that you need to sift out.

That filtering afterwards is, in my opinion, the greatest danger of this technology. Ask questions in areas in which you have no expertise. You will find that you are barely able to validate the AI’s answer.

It is up to all of us to prevent or erase negative excesses. and let AI realize its great possibilities.
